What is BOG25?
The International Biennial of Art and City, BOG25, invites us to view Bogotá as a work of art in itself. Navigating the city amid increasingly demanding daily routines often causes its architecture to fade into the background.
The Environmental Axis, originally the Vicachá River, later the San Francisco River, and more recently Avenida Jiménez—was transformed under the vision of architect Rogelio Salmona. Today, this historic corridor offers a chance to rediscover exceptional architectural landmarks, from neoclassical to brutalist styles: buildings with bold, distinctive designs that once broke with convention and today too often go unnoticed.
BOG25 Curatorial Axis
Titled Bogotá, Essays on Happiness, the first edition of the International Biennial of Art and City, BOG25, invites critical reflection on the relationship between urban life and the pursuit of well-being. This theme reveals the latent tension between the human desire for enjoyment and the societal imperative to achieve happiness—an imperative increasingly framed as measurable and attainable through predefined formulas.
In this context, happiness risks being stripped of its complexity and depth, reduced instead to a commodified ideal shaped by the self-help industry. BOG25 interrogates these reductive narratives, opening space for alternative imaginaries of what it means to live well—particularly within the intricate social, cultural, and spatial fabric of Bogotá..
