José Esparza Chong Cuy
José Esparza Chong Cuy es curador, escritor y arquitecto de México. Su trabajo explora los matices de la vida pública y el entorno construido.
Desde 2018 ejerce como director ejecutivo y curador en jefe de Storefront for Art and Architecture en la ciudad de Nueva York. Entre 2019 y 2025 formó parte del consejo curatorial del Museo Tamayo en la Ciudad de México.
José Esparza Chong Cuy is a curator, writer, and architect from Mexico. His work explores the nuances of public life and the built environment.
Since 2018, he has worked as Executive Director and Chief Curator at Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York City. Between 2019 and 2025, he was part of the curatorial council of Museo Tamayo in Mexico City.
Antes de su cargo actual, fue curador asociado en el Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago y en el Museo Jumex en la Ciudad de México. En 2013 fue cocurador de la Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa.
Entre 2007 y 2012 también vivió en Nueva York, donde ocupó cargos como pasante y asociado curatorial en Storefront, investigador en el New Museum y editor colaborador de la revista Domus.
Cuenta con una Maestría en Ciencias (MS) en Prácticas Críticas, Curatoriales y Conceptuales en Arquitectura por la Universidad de Columbia.
En 2026 fue curador del Pabellón de Kosovo en la 61.ª Exposición Internacional de Arte de La Bienal de Venecia.
Prior to his current role, he was Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and Museo Jumex in Mexico City. In 2013, he was co-curator of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale.
Between 2007 and 2012, he also lived in New York and held positions as Intern and Curatorial Associate at Storefront, Research Fellow at the New Museum, and contributing editor at Domus magazine.
He holds an MS in Critical, Curatorial, and Conceptual Practices in Architecture from Columbia University.
In 2026, he was the curator of the Kosovo Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
